The coin, in detail

About this coin.

The 2026 Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle is a Perth Mint bullion coin containing one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver. Issued as Australian legal tender, it carries an A$1 denomination and measures up to 40.90 mm across. This is John Mercanti’s eleventh design for the series.

The reverse places the head of a wedge-tailed eagle in the foreground, with a bald eagle behind it. Both face right, their contrasting feather patterns filling the coin. The series title, P mintmark, date, weight and fineness surround the birds; Dan Thorne’s King Charles III effigy appears on the obverse.

The Mint incorporates a micro-laser-engraved authentication letter and supplies the bullion coin in an acrylic capsule. GoldRock lists the Brilliant Uncirculated edition and confirms the presentation and quantity available. The images show the uncoloured one-ounce silver coin.
